Enough Is Enough : Part Three

“Let there be light”

At last, for the very first time, we met. I have waited, waited and waited all my life for this moment to arrive, thought this day will never come. Like a lacerated slave running North with his family seeking freedom or an handicap child waiting for the day to be adopt, the moment of truth is here. He sat quietly right before my eyes dressed in an all white Armani suit and shoes. A black fedora hat, leaning to the side of his head, masked his slicked back gray hair, you would think I was in the presence of Al Capone starring right back at me with a smirk and fire in his eyes.

With my approval, still as president for a day, my secret agents negotiated for me to meet “Insecurity” in a remote location in St-Kitts. I overheard and agent asking: "Is it just me that feels being in a bad episode of Lost?" "Who is this man?" "Why are we here?" "Why in St-Kitts?". Personally, I couldn’t careless if we met him on the grounds of St-Lucia, St-Bartholemy, St-Luc, St-Paul or St-John. I would have travelled to the Garden of Eden to defy this man.

He sat very still in the left corner of the room while stroking a Mayan gold coin in his right hand. I just couldn’t believe my own eyes, mankind’s arch-nemesis: “Insecurity”. Just like in a western show down, time stood still. I could feel my heart pumping blood profusely, my gaze and teeth were locked at the enemy. Beyond shadow of doubt, any seconds now, we would draw guns at each other.... At last!

“State your number and your name” I spoke in a harsh tone. A cold silence immediately filled the room. Still no reply from the archfiend, as he stopped stroking his gold coin. “Your name and your number, Sir.” I repeated with the same hatred in my voice. His grin grew wider, as he stood to walk in my direction. Without hesitation I also launched in his path whispering in my heart: “Even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no Evil”. Like two boxers fighting for the world heavyweight title, we met in middle of the room with deadlocked gaze in each other. “Why are we playing Hawk-Dove?” “Why doesn’t he kill me?” and “Why did he agreed for us to meet?” I asked myself. Toe to toe with anger we stood, as his warm breathing beating on my forehead. And like a stroke of magic, the answer came to me in a flash.

“He wants me to cease insecurity in myself”

... To be continued.

Enough Is Enough : Part Two

“War”

Edwin Starr once pleaded in a song: “War, what is it good for?” I second the motion in saying: “Absolutely nothing!” However, in my early youth, I dreamed of having different nations unifying forces for one common goal. Outside the school walls my mind drifted, I would fantasize of an alien invasion threatening our planet Earth and freedom. During such strike, we would be glued to the television to applaud the Americans, Europeans, Africans, Asians, First Nations, etc. joining hands to combat the oppressors just like in the 1996 film Independence Day, but this time it would be real.

Looking backing at those fatuous daydreams, I would have been further ahead in life if had followed more intensively in Math class. Maybe now, I could have been president. Furthermore, even if a war of the world against Aliens would have materialized and won, the human species would have later gone back to killing and hating one another. For example, World War I and II was fought and won, are we more united then before? Why not is the question. What would it require for us to finally achieve world peace? Was Kaney West not in his right mind to utter: “... And most of all we are at war with ourselves”. Could this be the reason we can’t stay united? Are we our own worst real enemy”.

“Love”

If you don’t know me by now, take a look and you’ll soon see that I am a lover not a fighter. And if I was president for only one day, I would break convention to bring everlasting peace on Earth. I would use my position and power to call upon the CIA, FBI, KGB, and all the ABC’s of the world’s intelligence to amalgamate now. With an urgent order from my red phone, I would demand to bring forth in less then 12 hours the culprit preventing us to world harmony.

6 hours after my urgent phone call, you would then find me in a secret location on the Island of St. Martin. As I stand holding seven top secret files, I would walk to face seven evildoers. “State your number and your name” I would ask in disgust.

“One, my name is Wrath”

“Two, Envy”

“Call me Gluttony, guess I’m number three”

“I’m four, Sloth is my name”

“Lucky five, you’re with Lust, baby!”

“Howdy partner, six, and the name is Greed”

“Number one, take a good look, too handsome to waste time here. Number two my name ain’t Pride. Aight!”

Looking back and forth at their faces, I knew I was in the presence of amateurs. With great disappointment, I threw the files on the ground and shouted: “Bring me their leader, I want to see “Insecurity”. Now!

All My Loving

Good morning!

Another morning, another chance to shine a smile and send a kiss at the rising sun.
Another day to cherish the gift of life, Happy Mother's day to all the mothers in the Galaxy.

"Thank you Mama for the nine months
You carried me through all the pain and sufferin'
No one knows the pressure you bare, just only you
Give you all my love
Thank you Mama"

Enough Is Enough

“See I believe in money, power, and respect. First you get the money. Then you get the power. After you get the power, people will respect you.” (Little Kim – Money, Power and Respect)

How can I find truth in this statement when I look all around me to witness the troubles of the world? How much respect does the US government gain or any other super power country when they are in constant bomb threat due to their business practices or arrogance? Regardless, both parties are in the wrong. “Thou shalt not disrespect one another” should be added on our currency instead of “In God we trust”, don’t you think? Life is too beautiful, maybe then, nations will remember to honor each other in happiness and not leave it in the hands of our Lord to act for us. Will we ever find a moment of bliss, as I witness the huge hurdle Greece is presently facing while spinning on its wheels to raise capital in order to save face amongst other European countries, while keeping its citizen's anger at bay from its own government careless spending.

During these frightened times, the joy of acting has little influence on my mind as I reflect on mankind's irreversible greed and ask myself: "How much money does one man really needs to accumulate over a lifetime to live comfortably?" A sibling once shared with me his answer: "Well to be honest Louis, you would need no less then two million dollars. Close to a million would be spent from birth until you reach the age of fifty-five, then you must secure another million for an agreeable retirement and bestow some finance to children and relatives. Not to forget to save funds for unforeseen accidents and needs. Better to have money at hand then to keep working hard to make".

"People of the world wake up!"

They say money makes the world go round, without it we won't survive. I totally agree with the survival part. What we failed to comprehend, the more money that is placed at our disposable the more we spend. In this century, the word “savings” isn’t neither part of our lifestyle or apart of our vocabulary. Do we need a white SUV Hummer or a pink Cadillac Escalade with oil price at its current levels? Are we dumb, blind or too shallow to see the bigger the vehicle the bigger the pollution damages our ozone layer? When did we first stop to care about our health over braggadocio? Can a billion dollar defense armament protect us from mother nature's wrath? What good will a five million dollar house do when its inherent won't live to celebrate their fifteenth birthday due to skin illness? Makes no sense to me, why must mankind keep playing God? Why must he keep destroying things he can’t never again rebuild? Who wants to be living on the moon or on the planet Mars with an oxygen mask all day and night? Doggy style love making will never be the same in an astronaut suit ;)

Now with jokes aside, my mind goes wild when I see four cars parked in a driveway? What good is a Rolls Royce Phantom when a Toyota Camry will take you to your destination and back? Who needs a mansion house without any kids to run around, but owning three airless dogs sleeping on its lawn is the new norm? Is it just me or its my frugal mindset to find our ways totally ludicrous? Why must we pay an additional $150 on a first class ticket seat to kiss the pavement first in a plane crash? In my book, I would have gladly paid more in coach class in order to die last, even for a split second to live more and be able to extend my hands to the sky and say: "Finally, I'm coming home baby! Start getting ..."

“Head to the nearness exit before it's too late"

Where is the love for one another? Where is our self respect that we so often ear preaching during Sunday's service? Does self control mean anything to anyone anymore while the media and capitalism keeps increasing its fellowship? Don’t get me wrong, I will support my own or any man’s dream for a luxury item. My annoyance here is with owning that same luxury item in every colors of the rainbow to feel admired while cutting my precious unique life short.

“Stand up!”

Keeping up with the Jones has never been this horrendous. Still, don’t get me wrong, money isn't the sworn enemy that I wish to expose here. The same way that we don't need gun control policy, because arms doesn't pull its own trigger to kill. Money is just a necessity of life in our modern times, it's not the feared wolf in sheep clothing crippling the air that I bread or the true reason for the up rising of the Greek citizen... May the real arch-nemesis stand up and step forward.

Greatness Is Within

"I believe in the impossible
If I reach deep within my heart
Overcome any obstacle
Won't let this dream just fall apart

You see I strive to be the very best
Shine my light for all to see
'Cause anything is possible
When you believe."

--Fantasia Barrino

Eyes Of A Child

"Have you ever reached a rainbow's end?
And did you find your pot of gold?
Ever catch a shooting star
And tell me how high did you soar?

Ever felt like you were dreaming
Just to find that you're awake
and the magic that surrounds you
can lift you up and guide you on your way

I can see it in the stars across the sky
Dreamt a hundred thousand dreams before
Now I finally realize
You see I've waited all my life for this moment to arrive
And finally I believe

There's a time for every soul to fly
It's in the eyes of every child
It's the heart that loves and saves the world
we should never let it go"

Two Eves With One Blog

I awake to a cloudy morning, 2010 2nd of May
Hello like before, it's me again Jah, as I fall on my knees today
Like an opened book, peruse through the lines of my journey where wisdom lay
Help me understand, 'cause ain't no sunshine this gloomy Sunday
Looking back on the load over my shoulder, I guess I carried part of the blame
Ain't it a crying shame, rain stain still remain on this window pain
All I ever did craved for, a woman in Brazil, India or Japan
So soft and sweet, she would melt in the palm of my hand
"To love and be loved" I expressed in a soft whisper
On a plane ride, while talking to her sister
"Let her be the one" the only one
Let me be freed from the Eve's of the world, and have fun
Genuine shy smile, one African Mona Lisa girl
My Michelle Obama dressed with obsidian pearl
Makes no sense, must be a statuesque order to deliver
By virtue of the bitterness that has invaded my liver
Stay focus, told myself time and time again
"Let's be friends and let's build over these turbulent rivers"

Remember the time, Yahweh, I said I was done?
Thought yesterday's burden was long gone
At last, someone to talk too, just like in those romantic song
As I adjust to remember her last name from previous last names
Like a looser adjusting to his first winning game
Flapping nervous eye lid, soft voice and dark skin complexion
Was it all part of my colorful imagination?
With nothing to hide, felt simple and comfortable
Like a kid playing in the sand with blue marbles
Keep your head to the sky, my dearest
When the morning sun disappears
A light in my eyes will soon reappear
Hold me from the side, the front or the rear
"Hold me in your arms, even for the first night"
"Wish to see how it would feel, by your side, every single night"
Then, the two of us shall plan our life's road like a winning coach
Trust, communication and going slow would be our different approach
Then, Eve's anxious ways won't kill this dream like a cockroach

It's me again God, as I sit to write this morning blog
Remember me? Just a simple man, sweet Michelle's prince frog
A one man band, a hard working soul man
Even if I tried, I couldn't write with the left hand
In my heart, hope she'll be happier with Adam's funk band
Trading sex for a moment of tenderness
A Daddy's little girl soon molded to a confident woman in happiness
Loosing insecurity while gaining her self love
Walking strong with praise from the Lord above
Now free from my love spell
Still, I wish you well

As the days kept going around in circle
This Lion's soul needed more then a miracle
As I struggled to reached my end of the rainbow
Courage to face the inner tears that never stopped to flow
Any minute, will I hear the click of the phone
Previously taken in a harsh: "I got to go!", then a dial tone
Guess it's time to grow a back bone
Fought to see my day in court with my Ex, like a captain of a sinking ship
In order to plead the storm from my previous relationships
Little did I know, you were my greatest motivation
A clearer majestic vision was set in motion
Something radiant in your eyes I did see
While brushing your teeth as you sang and danced
In the bathroom like crazy
That same old love that made me laugh in Spring
Fixes microwave broiling eggs in the morning
Now my dream talks to me, like Mr. Withers
She loves films, is shy and patient
Sends me a prayer when I’m weary
Sings along the alarm of my Blackberry
Lord, I thank you! Could she be the "one" finally?

Hello, all Mighty Jah, like the very first time in last May
As I fell on my knees to pray
Help me understand, 'cause ain't no sunshine for the past several years
Give me strength to face another Adam fear
What went wrong? Need to sleep, I'm so tired, can't take another Al Green song
Something inside was so strong, to say goodbye
Stepping aside to face another white omission lie
Peace of the mind is far gone inside
Where admiration, friendship and respect used to reside
Tried my best to hold on during several occasion
Let's be ally over the ocean, and keep building was my true vision
A blind selfish mind, breaking us apart was your mission
But another fight, another Adam's obstacle, things ain't right I'm losing again
Takes a fool in love to keep trying and keep loosing again
Where to draw the line to not start all over again?
Ain't no sunshine now that you've staid gone, sleeping alone on this cold futon
United we did stand, Haitian flag planted on your petite tropical Piton
Ain't it a shame, now that all trust is gone
It's just another Al Green sad song

Even if my own eyes haven't seen her yet
There's a girl in Brazil, India or Japan, on my life I will bet
That did care for me like an indoor pet
Was it love? 'Cause unhappy and gray she became like a financial debt
It's breaking my heart in two
Bad example, no longer shall I let her see my blues
Never wanted to see you sad girl
Hope you'll find a lot of happiness, true love, diamonds and pearls

PS: "Keep doing it, doing it, doing it... until you're satisfy. What ever it is!"

Sibling Rivalry

The act of rivalry is a good thing, in my book. As long as no body gets hurt, it's all good. It's a great tool for companies, countries, athletes, etc. to keep progressing forward withing this competitive rivalry.

Speaking of competition, my brother has a way of getting a rise out of me, pushing me in saying internally: "OK Bro! I'll show youuu."

I often realise, at the end, he was right from the start. Oh well! What would I do without him? I am blessed for having siblings and especially my brother's wisdom to keep me excelling forward to one day say: "Aaaah! Ah! Who's your Daddy now. Voila! Didn't I tell you that I was right!" ;)

Then again, our rivalry isn't about being right or wrong. It's all about being able to see a helping hand guiding us through when we first perceived the message as a sign of let down. You know!

Thanks for the stocks wisdom, Bro! However, I am still your Daddy! ;)

Love and Happiness

Dear Happy, I hope and pray that you're still dancing in fish heaven! Until I see you again, there's a candle burning in my soul for your safe return home.

Good morning world!

I once heard in a Mr. Pendergrass song these special words: "It's so good lovin' somebody and that somebody loves you back. To be loved and be loved in return It's the only thing that my heart desires, just appreciate the little things I do and you're the one who's got me inspired -- Keep on lifting me higher."

Those same special words were once shared with my departing friend "Happy". Not only was I being lifted higher with his friendship, playfulness and happiness, but I always looked forward seeing him performed his happy dance in the aquarium as soon as I walked through the door. So, it must be true: "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

"Still thinking of the day when you came into my life, what a bond to break, I'll be missing you. Happy!"

PS: My CPR certification course will be obtain in your memory
PS: Hoping to see you dancing up a storm during Caribana ;)

Gargamel's Freedom

Dedicated to the freedom of Mark Myrie aka Buju Gargamel Banton:
Strange, this feeling we are feeling
But Mr. Banton's freedom we will always believe in
I know you may think his faith is in vain
Til Shiloh we'll chant Rastafari's name
For his immediate liberation

Wings To Fly

Here is to you, my fourth love
Through my father's eyes we first met
And today, I glorify your everlasting presence in my life
In your honor I raise a bottle of fresh cold water
Here is to your continued friendship, knowledge, motivation and unconditional love
If this is a man's world, it would be despicable and empty without your touch

In contrast, my first love will soon leave me broke
My second love will leave me overweight with diabetes
My third love keeps breaking my heart and peace of the mind
However, you my fourth love, only you help me along and made me strong

In the words of Mr. Richie:
"You, turned me inside out and you showed me what life was about.
Only you, the only one that stole my heart away".

Here is to you, my love: Music.

Day after day, I'm more confused about relationships
Yet I look for the light through the pourin' rain
You know that's a game that I hate to loose
And I'm feelin' the blues, ain't it a shame

Oh, give me a party beat and free my soul
I want to get lost in your soca wine and drift away
give me a shy smile and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your tenderness and drift away

Beginnin' to think that I'm wastin' time
This life's journey is too far from the finish line
I don't understand the things I do
keep running circles in my mind
The world outside looks so unkind
Now I'm countin' on you, to carry me through

Give me wings and free my heart
I want to fly in this carnival and drift apart
Yea, give me the wine girl and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your African DNA and drift away

Music, I thank you for the joy that you've given me
Because, life is a song worth singing
I want you to know I believe in your songs
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You help me along, makin' me strong.

Tic - Toc - Tic - Toc

It all started with a late phone call, the previous night... Ring-Ring.

It's for days like today, God must be working his wonders on my patience and human qualities. Days where I needed to be at two different places at the same time. A day where even the casting director calls on me, directly, insisting my presence at one of the two locations. "Promise me you will be there, Louis" she said with anxiety in her voice due to a missed communication for a commercial contract booking I didn't receive until late last night. "I want to hear you giving me your word, on this, you will stay for at least one hour for the wardrobe fitting." All I could said to myself was: "Here we go again!".

It's for days like this one, I live to write about. Raining days, days where the tic-toc sounds of the clock mirrors the rhythm patterns of my heart. Days where I will inevitably be stuck, neck deep, into traffic and be thinking to myself: "Why me?". Days like today where I die a little with each passing minutes, fighting my way through a tsunami of pedestrians trying to meet my two destinations. It's for days like today I wish I didn't have a cellphone, any minute it will ring and hear "Where are you!!?"...

Midnight was the mark on the clock, last night, and a ring was heard . "Hello!" I said with a smile to the caller, my agent, at the other end of the phone line. And before I could hang up, I shock my head with an exhale and thought: "How on earth will I resolve this one". As the pressure built on my chess, making it hard for me to think, I reminded myself to just go with the flow, keep a smile and wish for the best outcome. If not, then I will live to joke about it. "Bro, guess what happened to me..." or write comments about it in my autobiography. With luck, it may be turn into a scene in my life's movie version.

Long story short, be kind to others was the lesson learned today. I meet my goals by cloning myself with a replacement from a friend at one location, and attended the other in person for the two hours required. My kindness in helping others gave fruit in receiving help in return, and my inner patience was a key element that helped in keeping cool during the extra hour.

Wait, listen! Ring-ring, the phone rings in the living room... Please, let it be a wrong number, this time ;)

Until Luck Comes Around

Born from a little seed of love
stronger than a diamond rock
where beauty and violence lay
where poor people smile to see the day
Haiti is my home, all I wish I had known
but in foreign land I have grown, in their streets I never roam
lived in school books, where I came the smartest
among the hardest survival

I soon learned from television
to believe in the impossible
except no defeat, surrender or retreat
so I'm struggling, fighting to live the possible
hustling, praying and wondering, when will I fly?
When will I touch the sky?
So I patiently wait, for that fateful day
it’s not far away, so for now I say:
"when I reach forty, I will be free
they’ll call me Louis Mercier
just like a waving freedom flag".

And then... I will stop to rest
while listening to Bill Withers ;)
